Here is another tournament that those who are not in a fall sport should definitely wrestle in (if you have at least a year’s experience). This is close enough that even those who are in a fall sport should try and get to this tournament. It’s always a good opportunity to get on the mat.
If you have no experience it would be a good idea to go with someone from our team who is wrestling and just watch to see how some matches go and what a tournament atmosphere is like.

Time: Weigh-ins 7:30-9:00 a.m.
Wrestling begins 10:00 a.m.
Fee: $ 20.00 with a USA Wrestling card (required; may be purchased at the door for $25.00)
This tournament is sanctioned by USA Wrestling and is sponsored by the Maryland State Wrestlin Association and MVSA Wrestling
Madison weight system — Weight classes will be determined after weigh-ins
Kids: Born in 1995 through 2002 (Kids divisions may be combined but age will not vary by more than one year from year of birth)
Cadet: Born in 1993 or 1994
High Contestents must be enrolled in and regularly attending high school during the ‘08-‘09
School: school year and must have been born on or after September 1, 1989
Open: Post high school
Girls: Girls’ division will be determined by the number of contestants
Rules: National High School Federation rules. Tournament is double elimination. The MSWA Pairing system will be used and opponents will be determined by blind draw. Length of periods 2-1-1
Uniforms: Singlets are preferred but not required. Headgear is mandatory.
Awards: Medals for the top three place winners in each weight class. A trophy will be awarded for the “Most Falls/Least Time” in each division
Concessions: Food and drinks will be available on site
Admission: Spectators: $5 for adults, $3 for students; children under 12 are free.
Directions: From I-495 take I-270 N toward Frederick. Take Exit 9B off I-270. Go West on Route 370/Sam Eig Hwy to Great Seneca Hwy. Turn right, and go 5 miles to Richter Farm Road. Turn left and the school is on the right (13501 Richter Farm Road).
