The weight certifications for this wrestling season will be Saturday, November 5th. This is a MANDATORY team function. We will be leaving Whitman on a bus as a team at 10:30 to travel to Blake HS. You will need your permission slip that is attached here and a photo ID (if you don’t have the ID it’s ok, but it makes it easier.) We will be back to Whitman by about 12:30. Please wear comfortable clothes (sweats with athletic shorts underneath) and a T-shirt/sweatshirt. Athletic shorts and T-shirt must be worn for the analysis. PLEASE remember to stay hydrated for this. Here is a link to hydration tips. If you are not hydrated the body fat test will not work properly and you will have to go to the makeup date which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Here is a link to a parent letter providing more information. Email/call Coach Manon with any questions.
All Whitman wrestlers are required to come to the Whitman parking lot on Saturday, March 26th at 3:30 to help out in the annual Whitman Athletics Mulch Sale. The format is a little different this year. We will not be making home deliveries. We will only be helping to load cars at Whitman. This is a mandatory team activity.

There is a Weight Certification permission slip that each wrestler has received at our preseason meetings that they must have. Congratulations to the Whitman wrestling team for winning the Patriot Classic Wrestling Tournament this past weekend at Northern High School in Owings, Maryland. Twenty teams from across Maryland and Virginia participated in this two-day contest, bringing together tough competition that showcased some impressive wrestling. The Whitman grapplers descended on this event in full-force, with a squad so deep and strong that they clinched the team title even before taking the mat in the finals on Saturday night. Taylor Leighton was Whitman’s top performer. As the team’s only individual champion, Taylor pinned his way through every opponent to win the 189-pound title. Ten of Whitman’s other wrestlers also medaled. Winning second place in their weight classes were: Mike Harder (140 lbs), Andrew Follman (145 lbs), Alex Hysong (152 lbs), and Danny Lee (215 lbs); winning third place were: Sawyer Symington (112 lbs), Dylan Symington (119 lbs), Eric Harder (125 lbs), Jordan Tritell (135 lbs), and Ned Daryoush (Heavyweight). Ben Delia took 6th place at 130 lbs. The team is undefeated so far this year with a dual meet record of 4-0. Their next contest will be on Tuesday night (January 12) at Richard Montgomery High School. Come on out and support your Vikes!
